Job description
Job Purpose including main duties and responsibilities:
To assist a specific child in their day to day routines during the hours they attend
· To support them in their development, learning and transitions including smart targets
· To support them at meal times
· To help with transitions, social environments and interactions
· To communicate with parents and maintain a supportive relationship
· To refer to professionals if needed and attend meetings involving these professionals
· To keep all children safe in the setting
· To promote the aims and ethos of the setting.
SAFEGUARDING AND RISK ASSESSMENTS
To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring that all staff and volunteers observe Setting policies and procedures to keep children safe from harm.
To understand and adhere to Setting policies, procedures and standards always
· To ensure you have read and are responsible for all the settings policies and procedures.
· To ensure the setting offers the highest standards of physical and emotional care, health and safety, and food hygiene at all times.
· Ensure children are collected in strict accordance with the Setting’s Child Collection Policy
· To always ensure confidentially within the setting
· Ensure that risk assessments are completed prior to commencing activities with children
PLANNING
To organise the planned activities and tailor them for the child in your care
· Ensure that play meets the full range of children's individual and group needs.
· Preparing activities, organising topics and setting up equipment.
· Ensure that activities are carried out in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with statutory responsibilities
· To ensure the setting offers a high quality, inclusive environment which meets the needs of all children, regardless of culture, religion, and physical or emotional development.
· Support the Deputy Manager, Manager and 3rd in charge in planning a wide range of creative and enjoyable activities.
COMMUNICATION
To help to develop and maintain good relationships and communications with parents/carers to insure day-to-day caring needs and encourage their involvement in their Childs development.
· To consult with the children and involve them in the planning of activities. Base their interests in the planning
· To share good practice with other Early years practitioners as needed.
TRAINING
To participate in activities which fall outside of normal working hours as required, e.g. Training, Staff Meetings, fundraising events, etc.
· To undertake continuous professional development, (Training) including short courses and qualifications
OTHER DUTIES
· To assist with the preparation and maintenance of materials and equipment.
· Recording accidents/incidents on relevant forms and ensure parents are informed
· To record children’s development on Tapestry and triangle charts
· To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the Deputy manager, Manager. And 3rd in charge
· To clean and make safe at the end of the day before you leave after your shift.
· To ensure you are a team player and that all allocated jobs and routines are done to the highest standard.
