Little Duckling’s Nursery is an independent nursery with settings in Topsham, Lympstone and Rockbeare.
We have also opened a pre school and wrap around care setting with breakfast, Afterschool and Holiday club for children ages 3 to 8 years old.
Our homely settings help children to feel safe and understood, we treat each child like our own, but more importantly we all have fun.
Our Story
Before we opened our doors to the Topsham and surrounding community, myself and our Manager, Becky were Childminders in Countess Wear and Exminster for 5 years, 2 years in collaboration.
We moved to a larger space to allow the wider community to access childcare for children ages 0-3.
We enjoy cooking, feeding the ducks, picnics, playing in our large garden overlooking the river Exe and much more including craft and activities, all in keeping to the EYFS (Early years foundation stage).
Little Ducklings has grown over the years and we felt it was time to expand our love and support to other families. Topsham is a town close to my heart as my family have lived here for many generation's.
We have now expanded again to cater for more children over two buildings in Topsham, The Old Ticket Office is a Pre school and wrap around care setting for children aged 3 to 8 years old.
Rockbeare is also close to my heart and therefore felt like the perfect next place to open a homely nursery setting.
We provide childcare from Birth to 4 years old in this setting.
Lympstone is a beautiful village and near to our Topsham setting, we hope to help as many families as we can with their childcare needs especially military families
We provide childcare from Birth to 2 years old in this setting.

Ofsted Registered
We are inspected by Ofsted and adhere to their guidelines. We plan all activities around your child’s interests and incorporate their next steps of learning into these activities.
All our settings were recently graded GOOD by Ofsted.
Stay up to date on your child’s development
We are passionate about your child’s development and record every stage of it in their Tapestry folder in accordance with the EYFS. You will be able to access it at home as well as add things you have observed with your little one. We will often send pictures via Tapestry throughout the day to reassure you that your child is settled and playing happily here with us.
Flexible Hourly Rates
Little Ducklings Nursery understand that your requirements for early years care and education are as unique as your child. We therefore offer hourly rates to be flexible with your childcare needs, this allows you to pick the most helpful time for you rather than having to book sessions or a full day.
Home away from home
Our homely environments offers the comforts of home in a safe, comfortable space. Our settings allow children free-flow with child led opportunity to learn with a few adult led activities.

My little boy started with Little Ducklings just after the first lockdown, when he started he was behind in his development. He had gotten lost in a bigger nursery and I wanted a more homely environment for him so he had more of a chance to shine. All I can say is wow! After a couple of weeks I turned up to pick him up with a bunch of flowers for Donna because I just couldn't believe the difference in my little boy. I could actually have a conversation with him now and fully understand him. I used to drop him to nursery kicking and screaming, now I'm lucky if he even remembers to say bye to me because he’s to excited to go and play! Its the best feeling knowing that I'm leaving him happy and he comes home happy. I cannot thank Donna and the team enough.
